I split the apple cinnamon cake in half to make two different kinds of cake balls. The bumble bees were a fun option, perfect for a kid’s birthday or a baby shower.
On the other half, I wanted to make something more grown up. I think these would be perfect at a wedding because the colors can easily be changed, or for any kind of bridal shower, engagement party, or a birthday party.
The best part of these cake balls, I think, are the flowers. I used fondant and a simple pearl sprinkle for the middle. I just rolled little pieces of fondant in my fingers and then flattened them. Then I took a tooth pick and created a little indent at the center of each for some more detail. Lastly, to add a little more color, I put silver glitter on the petals with my finger. They are not all perfect, but they still add a nice touch.
You can find this glitter at Michaels for a few bucks.
I added the flowers on top of each cake ball in a different spot using candy melt after I had drizzled different colored candy melt on top for decoration.
They were delicious!
