I think we can all agree that the best part of the movie Tangled, is the lantern seen at the end. So, when I saw that the Lantern Fest company was coming to Colorado Springs, I knew Bobby and I would have to go. I mean what is more magical than our own tangled lantern “moment.”
It was a short drive, and started off as a warm afternoon day in November. I was just thankful it was not snowing, but once the sun went down, it got COLD.
There were a few things to distract us from our frozen fingers and toes– fire pits placed all around, smores, decorating the lanterns, live music, and each other.
I would highly recommend going early enough and setting up next to a fire pit. We were just a little, too far, from all the ones that were around us. This was inconvenient and made smores-making a little difficult.
With the price of our ticket we received a lighter, marker, lantern, and smores ingredients– All in a cute little box.
Once it got COMPLETELY dark, we were given the instructions and g0-ahead to light our lanterns. They were surprisingly hard to light, and people all around were almost lighting people on fire. When the lanterns finally filled up with enough hot air, we could let them go. It was the coolest thing ever and I was so happy we went. I want to go again in April of this year too!
If you ever have the opportunity to do this, I would highly recommend this to everyone.
